Child Birth Educator
Louise
is a native South Carolinian with a BA degree from the University
of South Carolina. In 1999 she married Charles Monteith and moved
to Atlanta. When she became pregnant with their first child in
2001, her journey as a “birth junkie” began. That birth
was attended by a doula, and when her son was 4 months old, Louise
began her own doula training and shortly thereafter, began attending
births as labor support. In early 2004, she received her birth doula
certification from DONA and CAPPA.
Educating women about childbirth is something that Louise has done
informally and as a doula for years, and in 2006, she fulfilled her
dream of becoming certified to teach formal childbirth education
classes. She chose CAPPA as her certifying organization because it
is not method-focused. She believes it is important for her students
to choose their own path through the childbirth journey and her classes
will give them the tools they need to make informed decisions that
they will be facing.
Louise and her husband returned to SC in 2004 and have added 2 more
children to their family since that first, transforming birth. Louise
has a wide range of experience as a doula, mother and woman. She
brings this experience to her childbirth education classes and looks
forward to educating the world…one mother at a time! |
