Erin Witbeck
Doula / Child Birth Educator
“Truly, every birth is a rite of passage. In her own way, every mother in labor, without exception, lives the mystery of her physical, psychological and spiritual transformation~ whether she births by candlelight at home, in an operating room, in the car, or in a birth hut hidden in the jungle.” ~Pam England
Erin is a native Georgia peach and recent transplant to South Carolina from Boulder, Colorado. Erin received a BA from Prescott College in Multicultural Education and Wilderness Therapy. In 2003, she attended a DONA (Doulas of North America) workshop in Asheville, NC. After completing the doula training, and attending her first birth, Erin was compelled to unite these interests. This inspired her to become a childbirth mentor and doula through Birthing From Within developed by Pam England.
“During my own birth experience I became passionate about utilizing what I had learned, and later dedicated to giving others the same opportunity. When I became pregnant, I took advantage of prenatal yoga, and chose to attend Birthing From Within childbirth classes with my husband, Ryan. This helped us prepare for our incredible journey into parenthood. We learned to build a pain coping mindset, involving relaxation techniques which made us feel empowered together as we experienced this right of passage.”
In April of 2006, with the support of their doula, Erin and Ryan welcomed their
daughter, Sawyer into the world.
“It is my mission and a privilege to teach the concepts of childbirth and BFW to expectant parents who continue to inspire me with their insight, determination, and curiosity.”
Erin is looking forward the opportunity to collaborate with Yoga Mama Karma Kid. Offering an alternative approach to childbirth through education and doula services, parents are invited to discover and prepare for the journey of labor and birth. Through storytelling, art and experiential activities parents will learn the importance of giving birth in awareness. Therefore, the practice of childbirth becomes more than just a goal, but a way of life. |
